Nintendo confirmed that, like the NES Mini, the SNES Mini is conceived as a "limited product" that will only be shipped and sold in 2017. With the release of such a device, Nintendo would like to express appreciation to users who have shown great interest in its classic content. At the same time, the statement says that Nintendo plans to produce significantly more SNES Mini consoles than the NES Mini a year earlier. Specific numbers are not called. We recall that the NES Mini was sold in the amount of 2.3 million copies, but this was catastrophically low, the console was almost always absent in the public domain.

Responding to a question about the possible supply to the market of new batches of SNES Mini in 2018, Nintendo representatives explained that now they have nothing to say about this. Currently, the plan covers only 2017.
